Readers Workshop: We spent time looking for letters, sounds, and words that we know in familiar texts. We also focused on the difference between a letter and a word. The children love to identify and read their muscle words in different types of texts!
Reading Strategy: Eagle Eye
Eagle Eye says: Look at the pictures for clues to help figure out the word.
Math: We focused on patterns and shapes. The children are learning about: circles, squares, triangles, rectangles, and hexagons! We also worked on identifying and creating patterns.

Writers Workshop: We continued to write three page narratives with a beginning, middle, and end. This is a very challenging task, and the children showed impressive persistence during writers workshop!

Science and Global Citizenship: We studied apples this week. We had an Apple Taste Test and tried slices of green, red, and yellow apples. We graphed our results and made a class book, too! We also read a Scholastic News Magazine and many fiction and non-fiction books that focused on apples!

Change-O-Rama
In this game all of the students sit on the outside edge of the rug.
One student is picked to be The Changer.
The Changer goes into the middle of the rug and does 1 spin.
The Changer then goes to the bathroom and changes 1 thing about his/her appearance.
Changes include: rolling up pants, tucking in shirt, zipping up hoodie, etc.
The class counts by 10s while the Changer is changing.
The Changer comes back to the middle of the rug and does 1 spin.
Everyone says: Change-O-Rama!
The Changer get to pick up to 3 Guessers.
The round ends after The Guesser correctly guesses what the Changer did or after 3 guesses.
Then the whole class says: Good Game!
