Readers Workshop: We talked about how we all have SCHEMA (memories and experiences) which help us understand and connect to books and stories.
Math: We focused on combinations to 5. We played lots of games, and used math manipulatives, to explore all the ways to make 5! For example: 0+4, 1+3, 2+2, 3+1, and 4+0 all equal 5.

Writers Workshop: This month we are working on Opinion Writing. The students are learning to:
1. State their opinion
2. Support their opinion with two or more details
3. Write the word BECAUSE to help support their opinion
4. Have an exciting ending which restates their opinion in a different and fun way

Science and Global Citizenship: We learned about The Water Cycle! We continued to think about where puddles come from and where puddles grow. We learned about evaporation and different types of precipitation. We put celery into a jar filled with red water and looked for changes in the celery and the water level over time. We shared our observations during our Scientist Meetings!
